"The Unicorns of the Sea" -- the spiral-toothed male Arctic Narwhal whales -- are in big trouble.
Join me for another SOS segment from Los Angeles as I show how Big Oil intends to fossick the Arctic Circle seabed for the last drops of life-ending fossil fuels.
The Canadian government just granted oil corporations the rights to search for drilling sites in the Davis Strait between Baffin Island and Greenland.

In 2008, scientists found that Exxon's use of multi-beam echosounders scouring the ocean floor for oil and gas was responsible for mass stranding about 100 melon-headed whales in Loza Lagoon, Madagascar. Photo credit: notre-planete.info
That means millions of sea creatures will be killed by incessant sonic booms as Big Oil scavenges for more heat-trapping gases.

This deranged ecocide risks killing 90 percent of all the remaining Narwhals on our planet.
Every 10 seconds, non-stop for a couple of months, sonic explosions at 252 decibels will shatter eardrums of all sea creatures.

A breathtaking iconic Narwhal. The Arctic is warming at an unprecedented rate. In the 1980s the Arctic contained about 347,492 square miles of thick ice at least 5 years old. In September of 2012 only 22,007 square miles of such older, thicker ice remained. The Arctic has lost 97 percent of its thicker year-round ice that existed just three decades ago. A couple of years ago, Narwhals were tagged with temperature sensors. They helped my colleagues determine that the deep Arctic Ocean was 1.8F warmer than previously thought. Now, it's our turn to help the Narwhals!
It's time to protect the Arctic, not plunder it.
